Kade Ruder, 2, watches in fascination as five gallons of homemade ice cream are made with a 1936 John Deere hit-and-miss engine. Pat Donovan, owner of Donovan's Service, handed out bowls of the ice cream for free Saturday during the Old Shawnee Days Parade. He said he was given the modified ice cream maker about 10 years ago as a Father's Day gift.
