The Mill Valley football team hoists the Class 5A state championship plaque after defeating Goddard, 35-34, Saturday in double overtime at Pitt State's Carnie Smith Stadium. It was the second straight state title for the Jaguars.

Twice as nice: Mill Valley edges Goddard in double OT for second straight title
Mill Valley won its second straight Class 5A football title with a 35-34 double overtime victory over Goddard Saturday at Pitt State's Carnie Smith Stadium. Sophomore kicker Jack Matchette kicked the game-winning PAT after missing a 27-yard field goal in overtime. Senior linebacker Dylan Smith forced a fumble inside the 1-yard line on Goddard's OT possession to save the Jaguars' season. Junior quarterback Brody Flaming threw five touchdown passes — including three and the game-tying score to junior Evan Rice before Matchette's kick to win it.
