Shawnee Mission Northwest freshman-to-be Damar'e Smith dribbles through traffic in the JR. NBA Central Regional Championship tournament in June at Sports Pavilion Lawrence. Smith and Drive5 Power Elite won the regional tournament to secure a spot at Jr. NBA World Championships this week at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney World in Orlando. Mill Valley freshman-to-be Adrian Dimond is also on Drive5 Power Elite. Bishop Miege freshman-to-be and Shawnee native Gabi Henderson-Artis will try to guide KC Prodigy to a Jr. NBA World Championship in the girls bracket.

Three Shawnee natives begin quest for Jr. NBA World Championship

Shawnee natives Damar’e Smith, Adrian Dimond and Gabi Henderson-Artis will be in action in the inaugural Jr. NBA World Championships, which begin today at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando. Smith and Dimond helped Drive5 Power Elite to a Jr. NBA Central Regional boys title. Henderson-Artis was a member of KC Prodigy's Jr. NBA Central Regional girls championship team.
