Mill Valley sweeps EKL track and field titles; SJA girls 4th, boys 7th

The Mill Valley girls and boys track and field teams won Eastern Kansas League titles on Friday. The MV girls won their 18th consecutive league title (two in the EKL, 16 in the Kaw Valley League). The MV multi-athlete trio of Evan Zars, Lydia McDaneld and Erin Miller combined for 10 top-five finishes. Mitch Dervin won the 1,600 to lead the MV boys. The Jaguars went from worst to first in the EKL boys team standings from 2017 to 2018. St. James finished fourth in the girls team standings and seventh on the boys side. Katie Moore won the girls 800 and anchored the Thunder's 4x400 relay to first place. Jack Albright won the boys high jump to pace the St. James boys.
