Class 5A regional track May 26, 2009
Mill Valley junior Kellen Kinnamon attempts to clear the bar during the Class 5A regional meet. Kinnamon cleared a personal-best 6 feet, 2 inches, and placed fourth at regionals.
Mill Valley junior Jasa DuMontelle glides over the bar on her school record clearance of 5 feet, 5 1/2 inches on Friday at the Class 5A regional meet at Gardner-Edgerton High School.
Mill Valley senior Shawn Stene competes in the shot put at the Class 5A regional meet. Stene was the regional champion in the event.
Mill Valley junior Matt Acree placed second in the shot put and first in the discus at the Class 5A regional meet.
In a photo finish for third, fourth and fifth place in the 1,600-meter run, with the top four finishers advancing to state, Mill Valley freshman Kati Strickland (second from left and turning to the right) placed fourth in 5:44.05. Harmon's Sara Dominguez placed third in 5:44.03 and St. Thomas Aquinas' Blakely Swanson was fifth in 5:44.08. Aquinas' Betsy Donahue won the race and Turner's Demi Bradshaw was second.

Do you think it is important for Shawnee to be bicycle-friendly?
I think it’s important. I do love and use the paths, but it would be nice to have lanes so we could use bikes to run errands - saving gas!
