Veterans Day 2014

Shawnee celebrated Veterans Day inside the Shawnee Civic Centre on Tuesday. A couple hundred people attended the ceremony that included the honoring of local veterans who lost their lives during World War II. The holiday marked the 60th year of Veterans Day in the United States and the 100th year of Armistice Day. The holiday also fell on the anniversary of the tearing down of the Berlin wall in 1989.
