Mill Valley junior Brennan Schulte recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

Mill Valley senior Jack Campbell was recently chosen as a delegate 55th annual United States Senate Youth Program, which takes place next month.

Ruth Brown, a resident of Brookdale Shawnee, recently celebrated her 109th birthday. She is believed to be the oldest person living in Kansas but the city of Shawnee was unable to receive confirmation.

Heathyr Shaw, an English teacher at Mill Valley High School, recently was named a Kansas Horizon Award winner, which is an honor given to outstanding first-year teachers.

During its heyday, the Aztec Theater, now named the Fine Arts Theatre, was the cool place to be in Shawnee for teenagers.
