Do you do anything to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day?
“We are all Irish on St. Patrick’s Day. My family won the best in family floats in Shawnee’s St. Patrick’s Day parade a few years back. We got to have a big trophy for the year. My sons love throwing out candy on the parade route.”

I appreciate Mr. Dyche's concern to maintain a great public education for our children. However, he is grossly mistaken on one point - competitive bidding on construction projects. If the school district did not engage in competitive bidding, as he suggests, then the Kansas Attorney General would have long ago taken action. Perhaps Mr. Dyche should seek the truth before sending a letter to the editor with false information. Allow me to clarify for Mr. Dyche. What he really meant to say is that the Board of Education did not seek qualifications for professional construction management services. Big difference. No matter who the construction manager is for the Board — it MUST, by law, go to competitive bidding for construction.

The corrrect address for the proposed elementary #7 is 58th & Belmont in Shawnee. The property is already owned by the school district and is located just west of K-7 and south of 55th street. - Alvie Cater, Community Relations - USD #232
